How are your sponsorship dollars being spent?

Proper funding will allow Zach the ability to maintain his equipment, train and travel to the events which are extremely important for success at the Olympics.

• Challenges Zach faces during his campaign include buying two new racing boats, three to four new masts, blocks, lines and approximately eight to ten new sails during the year.

• Zach maintains an inflatable coach boat and trailer which is stored in the Netherlands and the gas for the boat itself. This equipment is serviced on a regular basis so as to keep it in excellent running condition. This coach boat enables his coach to be out on the water with Zach during training sessions and all regattas.

• Your support will also enable Zach the ability to maintain top coaching, keep working with a physical trainer and allow him to continue his training against the top Finn sailors in the World.

• Zach must also keep his sailing clothes in excellent condition thus requiring him to buy boots, hiking pants, water proof tops, sunglasses and other sailing gear to keep him physically comfortable while on the water.

• Zach also needs to provide himself vitamins, energy drinks, energy bars, water and other foods that allow him to have peak performance in training and competing.

• Since all the major regattas and all training camps are located in Europe and or Australia, Zach is also responsible for housing and food not only for himself, but also for his coach.

• These locations also require air travel and with a complex calendar such as Zach’s, he has no less than sixteen international plane tickets to purchase between himself and his coach.

• Not only is air travel a challenge so is transporting himself, his coach and his equipment through-out the many countries in which Zach competes. While he is traveling in Australia he will be renting a vehicle for transportation but when he is training and sailing in Europe, Zach actually purchases a vehicle since he has found that to be the most economical way to handle the situation.

• Along with the car usage is the gas and road tolls for the vehicle and any maintenance that may be required. During this racing season, Zach will be representing the United States in ten international regattas which charge an entry fee to participate.
